FTC: Telemarketing Operation Made Billions of Illegal Robocalls
June 8, 2018
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is charging two telemarketing operations responsible for billions of illegal robocalls made to consumers across the United States. James Christiano is accused of making illegal robocalls, calls to numbers on the Do-Not-Call Registry, and calls with spoofed caller ID information through TelWeb, a telephone dialing platform designed to dial a large volume of calls quickly, that is operated by his companies NetDotSolutions, Inc. and TeraMESH Networks, Inc. The FTC claims that TelWeb is responsible for making over a billion calls offering various products and services each year, violating the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Another man, Andrew Salisbury, is being held responsible for connecting telemarketers to TelWeb’s system.
